Memories & Candles
I worked with Janet for many years at the City of Austin Budget Office. In asdditional to being professional and competent at all times, Janet was always fun to work with. I remember sailing with her and Gillis and sharing many Budget Office celebrations. She will be missed by all.

We arrived in Texas January 28, 1986 after leaving Minnesota in a blizzard. It was a hot day here in Texas so we put on shorts and washed our truck. Little did we know our neighbors, whom we hadn’t met yet, were across the street laughing at us knowing the weather would be much different the next day. Those neighbors were Janet, Gil and Gannon Bartles.
I had the pleasure of meeting Janet 26 years ago. We became close friends.

Linda and I are new friends in Gil and Janet's life although in the short time we have come to know Janet she was inspiration to us. Janet always had a smile the smile of Christ on her countenance. We have been so blessed by her and will remember her always.

I am so saddened to hear of Janet’s passing. I had the pleasure of serving with her on the parks board here in Cedar Park. I looked to her for knowledge and wisdom. She had nothing but care for others and to leave this place better than she found it. Janet, you will be missed.
May you find peace and comfort in knowing that she is at home, with our Lord.

Janet always brightened our day. I remember doing the prayer study with her and both of us waiting and hoping we wouldn't have to pray out loud as this was something neither of us had grown up doing. She loved telling me "I knew there was something I liked about you!!!" whenever we would find yet another thing we agreed on. Both Les and I will miss her very much. She is one of the strongest women I have ever

For all who served with Janet on the Cedar Park City Council, she will always be remembered as the fiscal conscience of the city. "How are we going to pay for that?' was the question you knew to prepare for. She helped keep us grounded in reality.
Even after her elected service, she continued to serve as a volunteer: on city commissions and as a key organizer and fund raiser for the Veterans' Memorial.
God Speed, Janet. Gone too soon.

My husband was blessed to have known Janet for about 25 years. He lived down the street from them & Gannon is one of his oldest friends. They grew up together & he always said Janet was his second mom. I came to know her a little later and she was the sweetest person! Every Halloween when my kids were little, she would have them a special treat. We would drive to Cedar Park from Bertram every year to trick
